As updates that change a macOS version number become available, this article is updated to show the latest version of that macOS. If a later version is compatible with your Mac, you can get it by updating macOS on your Mac.

In October 2022, Apple released macOS Ventura, the latest version of its famous operating system. And if you're currently working on a Mac, now is a good time to update your computer, since Ventura received an update in January 2023 containing a host of new security fixes.

1. Click the Apple icon at the top left of your screen from any app or page. If you see a notification for any updates next to System Settings, it's a good sign that the latest version of the OS is now available.

You might also want to run the latest version of Safari because it has new features. A case in point is Safari 15 in macOS Monterey, which comes with a redesigned sidebar, newly added Quick Note feature and tab, and so much more.

The latest version of macOS, High Sierra, has some major changes for the Mac including a new filesystem, APFS. Apple has worked hard to make the transition seamless but there are a few things you can do prior to upgrading. Here is what you need to do:

Make a clone of your Boot Camp with the latest version of Winclone 6. In case there are problems upgrading with the filesystem and partitioning, you will be able to quickly restore your Boot Camp partition. On the Mac side, we recommend Carbon Copy Cloner. Carbon Copy Cloner creates a bootable backup, so if you have a failed update, you can boot directly to the backup and keep working.

The latest version of Safari has some really nice features, implemented in a way I wish other browsers would -- you can set default zoom levels on a per-site basis and quickly get to those per-site settings right from the main menu, for example, and the Intelligent Tracking Prevention (which expires third-party cookies used to track you across the web after 24 hours) is an easy way to take a basic step toward more privacy.

CCC 6 is the latest version available. Users running Catalina (10.15), Big Sur (11.*), Monterey (12.*), or Ventura (13.*) should use this version of CCC. If you are having trouble downloading CCC from the link above, try this alternate download location.

CCC 6.1.3 (and later) is qualified for macOS 13 Ventura, pending Apple's final release of that new OS. Open CCC and choose "Check for updates..." from the Carbon Copy Cloner menu to get the update, or click the "Download CCC 6" button above. If you're beta-testing macOS Ventura, please choose "Report a problem" from CCC's Help menu if you encounter any problems with CCC running on the beta OS. Also, please take a moment to review our extensive release notes available for the latest version of CCC.

When a new version of macOS is released, will my key be updated? No. If your key has version 10.13.0 on the key and 10.13.1 is released, your key is not automatically updated. A new key with the latest version of macOS will need to be purchased. Once you have received your new key, you are welcome to re-purpose your old key to use for other data (and remember, it's USB 3.0, so it's a fast drive!).

In short if you are on an older MacOS, be sure to grab this version to stay with the latest version that will run on your system. Soon the open beta will move to the 10.12 only version and that will be announced here, for those that want to test the new version early.

Note that formal hardware support for macOS Ventura (macOS 13) is more limited than its predecessor, macOS Monterey (macOS 12), and some features are restricted to official Macs with the latest Apple Silicon processors. Verify hardware compatibility before upgrading an older Hackintosh to this version of the macOS or buying hardware for a new one.

If you are using macOS High Sierra or Mojave, you should use the latest version of Tunnelblick. You should allow Tunnelblick to automatically check for updates on the "Preferences" panel of Tunnelblick's "VPN Details" window.

Before you run Digital Performer with High Sierra, be sure to download and install Version 9.52 at the link above (or later versions when they become available at motu.com/download). High Sierra operation requires DP 9.52 or higher. The v9.52 read me is here.

Current versions of all MOTU software products and hardware drivers available at motu.com/download (latest versions) appear to be compatible with High Sierra, although final compatibility testing is still on-going.

I know this is a really old post, but just want to close the loop and say that I still have my MBP 2010 and am currently running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 and have successfully installed the latest version of EOS Utility 2.14.31c as well as the latest versions of Digital Photo Professional and PictureStyleEditor. I was finally able to download all the photos from my 40D via the cable...many moons, eclipses and desert night sky viewings later.....with success! I finally got around to making the time to do this. Thanks to all who contributed their time and expertise to this thread. It's probably time to upgrade the MBP and camera by now.

Apple's Xcode Developer Tools (version 14.1 or later for Ventura, 13.1 or later for Monterey, 12.2 or later for Big Sur, 11.3 or later for Catalina, 10.0 or later for Mojave, 9.0 or later for High Sierra, 8.0 or later for Sierra, 7.0 or later for El Capitan, 6.1 or later for Yosemite, 5.0.1 or later for Mavericks, 4.4 or later for Mountain Lion, 4.1 or later for Lion, 3.2 or later for Snow Leopard, or 3.1 or later for Leopard), found at the Apple Developer site, on your Mac operating system installation CDs/DVD, or in the Mac App Store. I am still running Sonos S1 Controller for Mac version 11.5 on my Mac, so my system can access my music library. All of our iPhones and iPads are now running the latest Sonos S1 app version 11.6.2 and they work fine. 2ff7e9595c
